Newsom Jokes About "Trump Derangement Syndrome"
In his first appearance on Fox News, California Gov. Gavin Newsom joked with Fox News commentator Sean Hannity in the spin room after the second Republican presidential primary debate on Sept. 16, 2019.
Hannity asked Newsom if he was suffering from "Trump derangement syndrome," a term used by some to dismiss criticism of President Donald Trump. Newsom laughed and replied, "I'm not sure what that is, but I'm not suffering from anything."
Newsom also joked that he was "a big fan" of Trump's "hair" and that he was "looking forward" to debating him in the 2020 presidential election.
Newsom's appearance on Fox News is a sign that he is taking the 2020 presidential race seriously. Newsom is one of several Democratic governors who are considering running for president in 2020.
